Live Delivery Guarantee

We will offer a live delivery guarantee on all fish shipped Express with one day delivery that are accepted on the first delivery attempt.  The live arrival guarantee covers the cost of the fish only, not shipping.  This is to protect us against people who fail to acclimate the fish properly or are otherwise responsible for the death of the fish.  Should your betta arrive as a DOA, send us a clear picture of the fish still double-bagged within 30 minutes of receipt.  We will then refund its purchase price or replace it if we should have similar stock available but reshipping will be an additional cost.

Please be assured we do everything we possibly can to ensure that they will arrive alive and in good condition.  All fish are double bagged and shipped in insulated containers.  Heat packs and cold packs are utilized as appropriate.  Be aware that none of the carriers have climate controlled vehicles so if the fish are in an extremely cold or extremely hot vehicle, the packs may not be able to compensate for those extremes.

Under no circumstances will we ship fish to college dorm rooms or military posts.  We do NOT ship outside the continental United States.  We do NOT ship fish if your temps are less than 50 and delivery takes more than one day. We will not ship if your temps are below 40 even with one day delivery.

We urge you to be conscious of the temperature on your end when you are ordering.  If it is hot or cold (outside the range of 65 to 85 degrees), please be aware that it is safer for the fish if you call your post office or whichever carrier they are shipped by and request they hold the package for you to pick up.

We utilize Express Mail as our first mailing option because it is cheaper than the other carriers.  You may check to see if shipping by Express Mail will be 1 day or 2 days by going to www.usps.com  and entering 85026 as the "ship from" zip code for Express Mail.

What to expect on arrival:  Not all bettas ship well.  Shipping can be very stressful, especially if the box has been tossed around a lot.  Some bettas will arrive very pale but most bettas color up and return to normal activity within a few hours.  It may  take some bettas 48 hours or longer to recover from the stress of shipping.

Possible problems during shipping:  One of the most common problems that occurs during shipping is tail biting.  Tail biting is believed to be a stress reaction.  We know it can be disheartening to open your box and see a huge chunk missing from your betta's tail but, as long as it is cared for properly, it will grow back.

Bacterial infections, such as popeye, are another problem that can occur when bettas are shipped during colder temperatures. If your betta(s) arrive with a cloudy eye, treat with Maracyn.  The problem generally resolves itself within a week if the water is changed often and the fish is properly dosed with Maracyn.
